Audix DP7 Plus Bundle Review:
What To Expect from This Mic Pack
Quality
The reason these Audix microphones are so popular for drummers is that they provide top-quality sounds.
Each microphone is designed to fit different parts of the drum kit, and you get an overall fantastic mix due to their specializations.
While the D6 kick drum mic is the standout, we love each individual microphone in this set.
The extra condenser mic allows you to get more depth from your mix, as you could use it for your hi-hats, place it underneath your snare, or put it inside your kick drum for a bit of texture.
Construction
You get a good balance of microphone types on this set. All the drum microphones are dynamic mics, meaning they have high sound pressure levels, and they do a great job of focusing on certain drums.
The three ADX51 condenser microphones have wide pickup ranges, allowing you to get more of an overall sound from your kit.
We also love how the carry case is constructed. It’s heavy and durable, and the foam inserts in the interior are fantastic.
Performance
The D6 kick mic brings out great tones from your bass drum. It’s also designed so that it doesn’t need to sit in a sweet spot before giving good sounds.
The i5 has great crack to it when placed on your snare, while the D2s make your toms sound musical.
The D4 mic is great for low-end sound sources, which is why Audix included it to place on your floor tom. Many other microphone packs use the same mic for the floor tom that they use for the rack toms. This option gives you a bit more oomph from your low-end.
The ADX51s are very precise in their tones.
Price Value Ratio
We think the price of this set is excellent. While it’s relatively expensive, you’re getting eight high-quality mics that make your drums sound incredible.
The eighth microphone is technically free, further adding to the value you get from the set.
You won’t need to buy any more drum mics after getting this pack, which makes paying the cost well worth it.
