In this review, we’re going to look at the Gator Deluxe drumstick bag. While the brand isn’t known for offering stick bags, this is one of the most impressive ones we’ve seen in a while.
We’ll take a deep dive into everything you need to know about, and we’ll help you decide if it’s a good option for you.
The Gator Deluxe stick bag is made from faux leather, giving it a luxurious feeling. You get six interior compartments, along with two external zipper pockets.
You also get a removable stick sleeve so that you can take your sticks in a much lighter case to certain environments.
The bag has two carrying handles, along with a large shoulder strap to carry it behind your back.
Lastly, the weight of the bag without any sticks in it is 2.8 lbs.
The overall quality of this stick bag is incredibly high. While it’s not made of genuine leather, the faux leather gives you a pristine feel. It also makes the bag quite durable, ensuring that it will last many years of heavy use.
The black faux leather look is also timeless. The bag just fits in so nicely in whatever environment you place it in, which is a huge selling point.
The key construction feature is the removable sleeve. You can fit up to 12 pairs of drumsticks in the main bag, but you can fit up to three in the removable sleeve.
If you’re someone who doesn’t need more than three pairs of drumsticks for a gig, having this removable sleeve can be incredibly valuable. It’s easier to carry around, and it makes lugging your gear slightly more manageable.
Both the removable sleeve and main bag have hooks that you can attach to your floor tom. This allows you to position the bags so that you have easy access to your sticks while playing the drums.
That’s the only performance aspect to mention about any stick bag, so you need to make sure you get one that can mount to the floor tom well. This stick bag does exactly that.
However, the larger bag feels a lot more secure, so you should stick to using that one if you want the best performance quality possible when playing a gig.
Due to this bag being larger and made from faux leather, it’s a bit pricier than most other stick bags. The only stick bags you’ll find that cost more will be ones made from genuine leather.
While this stick bag is expensive, it will last a lot longer than bags made from nylon. So, we think the price is worth it, especially considering that you technically get two stick bags in one here.
Drumstick bags are designed to hold multiple pairs of drumsticks inside. If you don’t own a drumstick bag, your sticks will just be lying everywhere.
Drummers need stick bags to keep their sticks neat in a single place. You also need a stick bag to play gigs, as they allow you to have multiple pairs of drumsticks next to you, ready to pull out in case your current sticks break.
