How to Use Lalal.ai App

A Comprehensive Guide

Intro

With the big rise of AI in the world, some incredible apps for musicians have been created. One of the best ones is Lalal.ai. This is a part remover app that allows you to upload song files and separate the stems very quickly.

This is something that has been really hard to do in the past, but now Lalal.ai allows anyone to do it with relative ease.

In this guide, we’ll show you how Lalal.ai can work for drummers. We’ll also mention a few aspects of the app and why we love it so much.

How to Use the Lalal.ai App

Step 1

The biggest thing to mention about Lalal.ai is that it’s both a web-based and stem extractor. You need to go onto the platform on a web browser or phone app, make an account, pay a fee to use it, and then you’ll be good to go.

The first step is to find the home page once you’ve paid for a certain number of minutes that you can use.

Once you’re at the home page, you’ll see where you can upload music files. The app has various options that you can choose where it will separate different instrument parts.

Since we’re looking at how drummers can use this app, we’re going to select drums to be separated from the song.

We’re going to use Dani California by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. We’ll select it and upload it to the app.

Step 2

The next step is to wait while the song processes. The amount of time it takes to process depends on how long the song is and how many parts you’re separating.

Since we’re only separating drums, the processing section really won’t take all too long. We were very impressed at how quickly this app works.

The app also allows you to upload up to 20 music files at a time, which is incredibly impressive. The processing section will naturally take a lot longer if you do that, but it saves a whole bunch of time in the long run.

Step 3

Once the file is ready, you’re going to see two different song tabs. The first one is going to be labeled as drums, and this is where you can hear the isolated drum track from the song you uploaded.

As we used Dani California, we loved hearing Chad Smith’s tight grooves throughout this entire tune.

Hearing the isolated drum parts is a fantastic way of hearing what a drummer is playing in detail. It allows you to learn songs easier, as you don’t need to listen to the drums with all the other busy instrument parts getting in the way.

FEATURED ON

Step 4

The second song tab will play the song with the drum track completely removed. You’ll hear all the normal instrument parts from the song, but you won’t hear any of the drum parts being played.

This is what most people will likely use this app for, as it creates a drumless track for you to play along with.

The cool thing about having both tabs available is that you can play around with the both of them to see how the drums sound and how the song sounds without them being played. You can then make comparisons and understand what you need to be playing when you try playing along with the drumless track.

Step 5

The next step is to download the two tracks. There’s a tab that says it will process the entire file, meaning it will lock in your choice of song, remove all the parts, and then download the two files that you just listened to.

Once this happens, Lalal.ai will subtract the amount of minutes from your overall minute count, and that number will depend on how long the song you’re working with is.

The whole downloading process is just as quick as the original processing process, which further impressed us when we were trying things out.

Step 6

The final step is to check that your files have been downloaded. Lalal.ai will give you a simple file that should have two MP3 files inside a folder.

The one MP3 will be the song without drums, and the other will be the isolated drum part. You can then take those files and use them in any way that you want.

One of the biggest things drummers can use drumless tracks for is to practice. You can also use the drumless track to make a drum cover to upload to YouTube.

Things to Consider:

Payment Structure

While there are quite a few part remover applications out there, we’d say that the biggest thing that sets Lalal.ai apart is the fee structure.

Most other apps have a subscription based model, where you need to pay a set fee once a month to have unlimited access to all the features.

With Lalal.ai, you pay a once-off fee to have a certain number of minutes, and then you only need to pay again once those minutes run out. It’s a fantastic structure for drummers that don’t end up using the app as much as others.

It means that every cent you pay for the app will always be worth it.

Benefits of Lalal.ai

We mentioned previously that the two biggest benefits of this app are that you can get drumless tracks and isolated drum tracks with relative ease.

We would say that the payment structure is the other big benefit. Another one would be that the software loads songs in very quickly, which saves a lot of time.

Summary

To summarize how to use Lalal.ai, you just need to upload a song file, tell the app that you want to separate drums, and then it will do the rest for you.

Once the files are processed, you can download a folder that has the isolated drum track as well as the full song without drums in it. It’s that easy!

We highly recommend checking Lalal.ai out, as it’s one of the best part remover apps we’ve tried.

I’m crazy about drums, it’s been my passion since I was 12 years old. I played in numerous bands going through different styles like Rock, Progressive, Pop & Jazz-Rock. After being featured in major music publications (DrumeoGuitar GuitarAudioIssuesMusicThinkTank I started this website to share my knowledge and create a resource for drummers of all levels.
