ProSoCoustic WaveRoom Pro Basic Kit Review

Ultimate Buying Guide

Introduction:

These panels absorb the sounds and eliminate a lot of the echo and reverberation within the room. When playing a drum kit in the room, these panels make a massive difference.

The problem with acoustic panels is that they’re quite pricey, and getting them one by one is a lengthy process for a lot of people. It’s better to get a pre-packed set of them, and the ProSoCoustic WaveRoom Pro Basic Kit is a fantastic option to consider.

In this review, we’re going to break down what these panels are all about, and we’ll discuss how beneficial they’ll be to your drum room.

Key Features:

The panels that come in this kit are combination panels that both absorb and diffuse acoustics. This means that they take in sound and then scatter the remaining sound in different directions to give the impression of taking in even more sound than panels that simply absorb.

The pack includes six panels in total. Two of them are 2 x 4’, while the remaining four are each 2 x 2’.

They’re made from RockWool Rockboard and Polyester Fabric. These are the classic building materials of sound panels.

The panels also come with built-in mounting clamps so that you can hang them like paintings on your walls.

ProSoCoustic WaveRoom Pro Basic Kit Review:

What To Expect from This Acoustic Panels

Quality

The overall quality of these ProSoCoustic panels is excellent. There are a lot of smaller manufacturers out there selling mediocre panels that don’t look too great or work very well. So, panels like these are highly sought-after, as they look excellent and work brilliantly.

The fact that they act as diffusers as well is the best part, as a lot of people need to get insulation panels and diffuser panels to hang on their walls to get the best sound absorption. You can save a bit of space and money with these.

We found that these panels work the best in smaller rooms, but they’re still very effective in larger spaces.

Construction

Most of the materials used to make these panels are recycled. That’s an excellent construction feature to take note of, and it’s a big selling point for the ProSoCoustic brand.

While a lot of other insulation panels are made from fiberglass and foam, these panels are made from stone wool for absorption. The panels are then covered in fire-resistant fabric, which looks and feels fantastic.

The dimensions of each panel are fairly standard for sound panels. This means that if you already have sound panels in your room, adding these to your walls won’t change things up much, as they’ll have similar sizes.

Performance

These panels perform amazingly, especially when recording drums through microphones. If you place them spaced out across your walls, they’ll take out most of the natural reverb from your room.

It’s important to remember that they’re not used for soundproofing your room. They won’t stop the sound of your drums from getting through to the outside world. They will clean up the sound, though, and that will lower the volume of your drums slightly.

Our only suggestion is to get bass traps to hang in the corners of your room as well. These will be more effective in controlling your bass drum sound, whereas the insulation panels work well with mid and upper frequencies.

Price Value Ratio

The price-to-value ratio is fairly decent, considering that you’d be paying more if you purchased these panels individually. This pack acts as the perfect once-off purchase to improve the acoustics dramatically inside your drum or music room.

However, it may not be the best bang for your buck option on the market for drummers. This is because it doesn’t come with bass traps. It would be great if it came with at least one or two bass traps to hang in the corners of your room. Those would make the acoustics even better.

You can easily purchase those separately, though, so the overall value of this kit is still excellent.

Things To Consider:

ProSoCoustic WaveRoom Pro Basic Kit for Studio Recording

Sound panels like these are essential for studio recording. You won’t find any professional recording studio in the world that doesn’t have sound panels hanging on the walls.

You should get these if you record in your home studio as well. Hanging them around your kit in a bedroom will make recording drums a lot easier. They improve the sound of the drums coming through the mics, giving you better overall recording quality.

They also create a better listening environment. So, you’ll get crisper audio when mixing and mastering whatever you’ve been recording on the kit.

ProSoCoustic WaveRoom Pro Basic Kit for Live Gigging Venues

The panels are less essential in live gigging environments. Gig venues are typically large, so you’ll need a lot more than six acoustic panels to improve the sound. Also, the natural reverb of a gigging venue is usually part of the experience, so deadening that will be counterintuitive.

So, we don’t recommend getting these panels for a gigging venue if you don’t absolutely need them.

Conclusion

The ProSoCoustic Wave Room Pro Basic Kit is an excellent set of acoustic panels to consider. The selling point for us is that these panels work as diffusers as well, giving you two-in-one panels with plenty of value to them.

We just suggest that you get bass traps as well. Those will complete your wall panel setup, and they’ll help get the best acoustics possible for playing and recording drum parts.

If your room is small, six panels will be enough. If you’re in a much larger room, you may need a few more.
