Gator Drum Bag w/ Divider System for Electronic Drum Kits Review

Practical Buying Guide

Introduction:

While drum bags and cases are very commonly found for acoustic drums, there aren’t many options available that were specifically designed for electronic drums

Electronic drums don’t get transported as often as acoustic drums, but it’s good to keep the pads and cables protected when you do move your kit around.

Thankfully, Gator offers a superb drum bag designed for electronic drum kits, and here’s our review of it.

Key Features:

This bag is specifically designed to store all the components of an electronic drum set. That includes drum pads, cymbal pads, a drum module, cables, and all the hardware that holds the kit together.

It’s one bag to carry, making transporting an entire electronic drum set incredibly convenient.

It has a 25mm padded tricot interior to keep everything safe, and it includes a divined system to separate all the components.

It has two nylon carry handles. It also has large wheels and a tow handle to allow you to drag it like a suitcase.

The inner dimensions are 36” x 16” x 16”, so there is plenty of space for most electronic drum kits to fit.

Lastly, there’s a removable shoulder strap that allows you to carry the bag over your shoulder instead of dragging it or holding it by the handles.

Gator Electronic Drum Kit Bag Review:

What To Expect from This Bag

Quality

One of the best features of this case is the divider system. It allows you to neatly place all the components of your electronic drum kit separately. It’s not something you need with acoustic drums, which is why this bag is so good for electronic drums.

The 25mm padded tricot interior also does a fantastic job of keeping all the components safe. You technically don’t need to add any more padding, but it can help to wrap the drum module in something to protect it even more.

The biggest benefit that this bag gives you is a quality of life increase. Transporting electronic drums is always difficult when you don’t have anything to carry them in. Not because they’re big but because there are so many different components to worry about.

Construction

The construction decisions that Gator made when designing this bag are perfect. We really appreciate how there are three ways of moving the bag around.

It can get quite heavy when placing a larger electronic drum kit inside, so the shoulder strap wouldn’t be ideal in that case. That’s when the wheels and tow handle come in handy.

The interior dimensions are also large enough to house most electronic kits, making the bag very versatile. However, a lot of people struggle to fit their bass drum pads in if they’re a bit bigger.

Also, note that this bag wouldn’t be able to house an electronic kit that has acoustic shells.

Performance

It’s not very common for drummers to use electronic kits when they play gigs, but this bag would be the perfect option to have for transporting your kit to those gigs.

You can place all your gear in it, and then you only have one trip from your car to the stage. If you have more gear, you could always get two of these bags to cover your bases. It works brilliantly like that.

Price to Value:

The bag is very large, so we think the cost is well worth it with the value it offers. Just note that it costs around the same as a pack of soft drum cases.

Paying for a bag like this will also extend the lifespan of your electronic drum kit if you’re not using it. A lot of drummers leave their kits out to get dusty, and that messes with the inner electronics. It’s a great investment to consider in that sense.

Conclusion

Gator has made an excellent product here. It’s one of the few drum cases we know of that is purely intended for electronic drum kits, and it does a great job of fitting an entire kit inside.

It may get very heavy with some kits, but the bag is durable enough to keep that kit very safe without any of its own components breaking. If you’re looking for a good bag, we highly recommend this one!
