sE Electronics V Pack Arena Drum Mic Pack review

Practical Buying Guide

Introduction:

If you’re looking for drum set microphones, you can save a lot of money by purchasing a pre-packed set. Most mic companies sell drum kit mic packages, and they usually give you seven microphones for your kit.

We’re going to look at the sE Electronics V Pack Arena package. It’s quite a popular drum mic set these days, with many drummers around the world loving it.

In our review, we’ll look at all the features and tell you what this pack is all about.

Key Features:

The V Pack Arena drum mic kit comes with a total of seven microphones. For the bass drum, you get the famous V kick microphone. The toms get three V Beat mics, the snare drum gets the V7 X, and then you get two sE8s to use as overheads.

All of these mics come in a large hardcase box with foam inserts to comfortably place everything.

You also get mounts for the snare drum and overhead mics, while the tom mics have clips to attach to the rims.

sE Electronics V Pack Arena Drum Mic Pack Review:

What To Expect from This Drum Mic Pack

Quality

We think the overall quality of these microphones is excellent. The best mic of the pack is arguably the V Kick. It’s a solid microphone that produces thick and thumping tones from your bass drum.

The tom mics produce clear and accurate sounds from the toms, meaning they sound quite similar to how they sound in the room.

The V7 X is also a fantastic mic, producing very similar sound quality to the industry-standard Shure SM57 microphone

Finally, the sE8 overhead mics do a great job of picking up the whole sound of your kit.

Construction

The first thing to mention is that these microphones have a very iconic appearance. They’re one of the few sets of mics to have a distinct red color on the cases, and that clearly shows that they’re sE Electronics microphones.

The rim clips that come with the tom microphones are solid, and they can be moved very easily to get good positions.

The only thing we wish was different would be the snare drum mic. It comes with a mount, but it needs to be attached to a normal microphone stand. It would be better if that mic had a rim clip too.

Performance

These are pretty good professional microphones. While there are much higher-quality options out there for drums, you can get a solid studio recording with these.

With them sounding so clear, you get a fantastic starting point for a mix.

We also love how much bleed rejection the snare drum mic offers. You often have to worry about snare mics picking up hi-hat sounds, but this one doesn’t do that.

Price to Value:

You’re going to pay just over $1000 for this entire microphone set. With seven mics being included, it means that you pay around $150 per microphone. That’s great value! Especially when you consider that overhead mics are usually more expensive.

You’ll save money compared to if you bought these mics individually.

When comparing this set to other microphone sets, the price is around the same for comparable mics. So, we wouldn’t say that this set has better value for money than any others from brands like Shure, Audix, or Sennheiser.

Conclusion

Overall, we think that the sE Electronics V Pack Arena Drum Mic Pack is a wonderful option for all drummers. You get a full set of drum mics at a decent price, and all of them offer awesome performance quality.

The construction quality is also great, with each mic being quite durable. You’ll just need to buy three extra microphone stands to hold the overhead and snare drum microphones.

There are a few other microphone packs that cost the same as this one, but we’d say that the sE Electronic mics would make most drummers happy when using them!
